Head’s Newsletter – Friday 26th June 2026

Tiffin School is committed to providing a high quality careers and progression programme, and excellent support to our students. In line with Government guidance, we utilise the Gatsby benchmarks to develop our careers programme.
Through timetabled lessons, tutor time sessions, use of PDD days, trips and visits, individual meetings and off-timetable activities, we aim to open our students’ minds to a wide variety of career paths, to challenge their thinking and preconceived ideas on pathways and careers, to encourage their aspirations, and to give them tailored and relevant information and advice.
Our careers and progression programme, which you can view below, is designed so that students can begin to learn how to navigate and manage their future. This includes becoming more aware of their strengths, values and interests, learning about many different areas of work and pathways, understanding how to keep options open, building experience, valuing how their lessons and other activities contribute to their future, and developing career management skills.
We have recently introduced the Unifrog platform to sit at the heart of our careers programme. Students can use this to log and reflect on activities and placements, and to explore and research careers and progression pathways. This is also used as part of our 6 PDD ‘Beyond Tiffin Life’ work booklets for each year group.
Careers News (for all students), Y12 and Y13 Progression Bulletins are weekly sources of external opportunities, ideas and events, including employer insight events, university tasters and work experience opportunities. We invite alumni and other contacts in to talk to students about their careers, and our older year groups share their experience with the years below. Our academic departments and the careers and progression team look for opportunities for students to explore pathways and experience the world of work. Recent examples include: Young Reporter, Advertising Unlocked, Young Enterprise and a Study Abroad series.
Mr D Ryde (L7 Careers Adviser), is our Careers Leader and has the role of Head of Careers; managing the careers programme and providing independent and impartial guidance for all year groups. Our Senior Leader link is Mr. A Dean. Our Governor responsible for Careers is Mrs A Jones.
Mr Ryde is the first point of contact for any questions or proposals about our careers programme. Parents, employers or education/training providers can contact him on 020 8546 4638 or careers@tiffin.kingston.sch.uk. Pupils can get in touch via the same email address or drop in to the careers office (Room 108C), at school.
