The Tiffin School Foundation (Foundation) is a registered charity which owns the school land in Kingston (as trustee) and owns the sports grounds and facilities at Grists. The Foundation has an important role in the governance of Tiffin School. Its charitable objects include the provision and conduct of Tiffin School and the provision of sports and recreation facilities to the local community and Tiffin alumni sports clubs. The Foundation is the principal charitable conduit for parental and alumni donations to the Tiffin Education Fund and other fundraising and legacies that are essential for the School to be able to continue to offer modern facilities and wide extracurricular opportunities to its students. Its role in the governance of the School is explained in more detail here.
The Foundation’s recent activities have included project fundraising and launching a legacy initiative “The 1638 Society”. Approval for two major projects was granted to improve the facilities at the School. Construction has started in Kingston for the provision of a second artificial all-weather pitch, new netball court, upgraded cricket nets and a new long jump. These will be enjoyed by many generations of Tiffinians to come and will be completed by the spring of the 2025-26 academic year. These Kingston facilities are very much needed due to the impact that poor weather often has on the School’s ability to use Grists as well as the revenue generated from evening and weekend third party community lets. This project has been possible due to a single very large donation by an alumnus and the strong support of current parents. The second project for a major, and long overdue, upgrade to our staff room and reception area has been completed over the summer and has been particularly helped by a large legacy from a late teacher. The Foundation, with the support of current parents, has also supported much needed improvements to the School’s Harper Pavilion at Grists over the summer of 2025. The Trustees heartfelt thanks go to all parents and Tiffin alumni and others who have supported the fundraising for these improvements.
In the summer of 2025, the Foundation continued its initiative of providing 11+ familiarisation tests for Year 5 pupils (girls and boys) in the local community who are wanting to experience an entrance test to any school at age 11. The tests are given free to children who are eligible for Pupil Premium and who participate in the School’s Shaping Future’s programme.
