Congratulations to our talented Year 12 students, who performed Yasmina Reza’s brilliantly sharp and complex play Life x 3 in the Drama Studio this week.
The production, originally postponed due to the rather dramatic 37-degree heatwave, finally made it to the stage – and it was certainly worth the wait. Reza’s play explores the same disastrous evening three times over, as two dinner guests arrive on the wrong night and an ordinary social gathering quickly unravels into a witty, tense and thought-provoking examination of relationships, ambition, parenting and chance.
This was not an easy text to take on. The play demands maturity, emotional range, comic timing and real precision from its performers. Our students rose to the challenge with confidence and sensitivity, delivering performances that were both entertaining and deeply thoughtful.
A huge well done to the cast (Daisy B, Nico O, Jack F, Dylan CQ and James C) for their commitment, professionalism and resilience, particularly as they balanced rehearsals alongside summer assessments and other school commitments. Thank you also to the audience members who rebooked their tickets and returned to support the postponed production – thankfully in only slightly less tropical conditions!
