On Monday 15th June, Year 7 students took part in an exciting Bhangra workshop led by a professional performer and musician from the Birmingham-based Indian folk-dance company, Nachda Sansaar. The session provided students with a valuable opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of Bhangra, a vibrant and energetic folk-dance originating from the Punjab region of India.
Accompanied by live music, students enthusiastically learned traditional Bhangra movements, rhythms, and performance techniques. The energy in the room was infectious as students danced to the live accompaniment, gaining a deeper appreciation of the connection between music and movement within this dynamic dance style.
The workshop was a fantastic cultural experience, enabling students to develop their performance skills, confidence, and understanding of South Asian dance traditions. We were incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, effort, and participation shown by all Year 7 students throughout the day.
