On Saturday 30th May, 161 Year 10 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh participants set off for Heaven Farm in West Sussex for three days of adventure. They mastered the skills of navigating with map and compass, setting up camp and cooking on a camp stove, and ‘sleeping’ 2-3 to a tent where reportedly not much sleep was had with the sun and birds rising before 5am! Using their new skills and showing impressive determination and teamwork, our Tiffin Bronze crew walked more than 40km over the course of the weekend while carrying all their gear, and passed the expedition with flying colours!

They were an absolute credit to Tiffin and the instructors were hugely complimentary about their manners, their resilience and their excellent navigational skills. After a full day of hiking they still had energy for endless games of  frisbee, football, cards and Perudo, and didn’t miss their phones for a minute. Some of the more enterprising even dug out their parents’ old transistor radios to listen to the European Champions League football match, and cameras to record the experience! So they came home with fantastic memories, greater self-confidence, and in one case, even a wizard staff worthy of Gandalf!
