The last bank holiday weekend of May saw the 3 day rowing event of National Schools’ Regatta where the top UK crews, from over 80 different schools, came together to compete at Windsor’s Olympic Dorney Lake.
Tiffin entered crews from year 9 to 13 across both boys’ and girls’ squads. The format was a 1900m time trial where qualifying crews are then seeded for the championship finals.
This year we were overwhelmed to see our girls, for the first time in over 15 years, make several finals across all the year groups. Result of the day was the year 10 girls making the A final of band 2 quads.

The boys also made finals across the board with our younger crews showing promise for the future. The biggest improvers were our year 11 boys who, failing to qualify last year, made the B final this year.
Our U18 championship boys’ squad raced hard losing to locals rival Kingston RC in the time trial, then the two heats to come back when it really mattered and pipped them to the post in the final by 0.1 of a second to become the 9th fastest crew in the country.
A good weekend all round, thanks to the coaches and parents who supported.
