In lab 9 towards the latter part of this this term, 10×4 students have been hard at work designing and building their own robots using microbits and a range of materials. The project challenges them to create a robot capable of crossing a narrow bridge and pushing an opponent off the edge — a task that requires careful planning, creative thinking, and problem-solving.

What makes this project particularly exciting is the variety of ideas taking shape around the room. Some students are experimenting with lightweight designs to improve speed and balance, while others are focusing on strength and stability. Each robot reflects the individual approach of its creator, making every design unique.

Throughout the process, students are developing valuable skills in coding, engineering, and teamwork. They are testing, adapting, and refining their ideas as they go, learning from both successes and setbacks.

It’s been great to see such a high level of engagement and creativity, with students fully involved in bringing their designs to life. We look forward to seeing how their robots continue to develop in the coming weeks.
