The first full week back has seen a near-complete programme of fixtures across the school, with our rugby teams in full swing and our girls preparing for the first netball matches of the season.
The 1st XV enjoyed a strong midweek performance, recording a comfortable 24–5 victory over Hinchley Wood School in the National Vase. On Saturday they faced a stern test against Windsor Boys’ School, narrowly falling short 22–20 in a closely fought contest. Standout performances came from Rahul, Ruben and Louis, whose efforts were a highlight in an excellent game of rugby.
The 2nd XV began their season with a hard-fought 26–21 victory away at Windsor Boys. Mr Latham commended George and Rishi for their outstanding contributions. The 3rd XV played their first fixture on Wednesday and, despite an unfortunate defeat, showed plenty of promise. Will and Marco, making their debuts in senior rugby, were particularly impressive.
The Under 16As bounced back strongly from last week’s disappointment with a 39–19 win over Richard Challoner School, where Tife and Zack were the standouts. They built on this with another fine performance midweek, defeating UCS in a close encounter. Zack again impressed, supported by excellent contributions from Dan and Oliver.
Both the 15A and 15B sides secured victories against Richard Challoner. The As sealed their result with a dramatic late try, while the Bs dominated their match to win 24–14. Special mention goes to Oli, Arthur and Lucas, who stepped up mid-game to help the As and played a crucial role in securing the victory.
The Under 14s maintained their strong start to the season with two excellent home wins against Richard Challoner. Standout players for the As were Noah, Jake and Rory, while Finn, Kagan and Raife were notable in the Bs.
The Under 13A and B teams both came within a single try of victory against Richard Challoner. Despite the narrow defeats, there were encouraging performances, with Bertie impressing for the As and Ben H standing out for the Bs.
Our Year 7 pupils will represent the school for the very first time this Friday in their opening rugby fixtures, which promises to be a special occasion. Meanwhile, our girls are preparing for their first netball matches of the term, and we look forward to following their progress in the coming weeks.
It has been a most encouraging start to the term, with pupils across all year groups showing resilience, determination and a real sense of teamwork.
