Our Year 12 Drama students were recently treated to an unforgettable workshop led by none other than the legendary Cambridge Footlights, one of the UK’s most renowned comedy troupes. Known for producing generations of comedic talent, the Footlights brought their trademark energy, wit, and insight to our school, and our students rose brilliantly to the occasion.
The session focused on improvised comedy, encouraging students to think on their feet, take creative risks, and embrace the unexpected. From hilarious sketches to spontaneous Drama games, our students showed tremendous confidence and imagination, all while learning the subtle art of timing, collaboration, and comedic structure.
A particular highlight of the afternoon was the Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to ask about life at Cambridge University, the experience of studying various subjects, and what it’s like to perform as part of such a prestigious troupe. The Footlights offered thoughtful, down-to-earth answers, giving valuable advice on pursuing creative passions beyond school and breaking into the world of performance. We’re incredibly grateful to the Cambridge Footlights for their time, generosity, and infectious enthusiasm. It was an afternoon that left our students buzzing with ideas and maybe even dreaming of taking their own place on the Footlights stage one day!
