The London Youth Games (LYG) is an annual sporting event that has acted as a launchpad for many GB Olympic athletes for many years now. All London boroughs are invited to put forward a team with their best athletes to compete in a wide range of sporting disciplines.

This year around twenty-seven boroughs competed in the Athletics event held just on Saturday 21st June, the highlight of the day being the 4×100 relay.

Christine Ohuruogu, the 400m GB Olympic athlete who competed in the 20212 London Olympics and won silver for the 400m was in attendance at this year’s London Youth Games. She addressed all the athletes just before the relay event, providing them with much inspiration as she talked about starting out her career at the LYG.

Adam A from Year 8 participated in the relay and Javelin representing Kingston-Upon-Thames.

Max, another fellow Year 8 also competed in the relay and another running event representing Richmond. He won his heat for the relay.

Congratulations to Max, Adam and all those who had the honour of participating in such a prestigious event!
