This past weekend presented a tough round of block fixtures against a strong Reed’s School Cricket program. Across all year groups, our teams competed with commitment and spirit, but it was a challenging outing overall. Wins were hard to come by, with only the U15Bs and U13Cs managing to come out on top. Both sides put in composed performances, with the U15Bs showing excellent discipline with the ball and the U13Cs executing a mature chase under pressure.

The U13As provided one of the most exciting contests of the weekend, finishing their match in a rare and thrilling tie. It was a game that ebbed and flowed throughout, and the boys showed great composure in high-pressure moments. While results didn’t go our way in many of the other matches, there were plenty of positives to take – solid partnerships with the bat, sharp fielding efforts, and signs of real development across the squads.

The week began with a positive result for the 1st XI, who hosted a touring side from Manchester University. The seniors produced an accomplished performance, setting a competitive total and then defending it with accuracy and control. The match was a valuable experience for the players, many of whom continue to grow in confidence and leadership on the field.

Tuesday brought more good news, particularly from the U13s, who faced KCS Wimbledon in a midweek set of fixtures. The year group bounced back strongly from the weekend’s challenges, registering three wins from four matches. All sides played with intent and clarity – building partnerships, applying pressure in the field, and bowling with purpose. It was a clear reflection of their progress and team cohesion.

While the weekend’s results were mixed, the character shown in tough conditions and the strong midweek response demonstrates the resilience and upward trajectory of our Cricket program. With more fixtures ahead, the teams are building a solid platform for continued improvement and future success.
