Epsom Downs League

Tiffin had a strong showing at the Downs League at the famous Epsom Downs Course last weekend. The Downs League is held over a series of four races.

Our U20 team, comprised of Year 13 athletes, ran against athletes two or three years older, and still magnificently placed 1st – an extraordinary achievement. Atharv P gained his medal by winning three out of four races on the day.

The U17 team fought hard throughout the day, impressively placing 2nd overall, with Pancho P matching Atharv in winning three of his four races, earning himself a medal for the weekend.

Finally, our U15 and U13 teams did extremely well, both placing inside the top 10 teams in Surrey.

Overall, it was a remarkable result for Tiffin, despite being up against club teams comprised of the best athletes in Surrey. Congratulations to all of our brilliant runners!

Battersea Parkrun

On Saturday 1st March, Pancho P laid down an early marker for stardom at the Battersea Parkrun 5K. He finished the 5K at 16 minutes on the dot, placing him in an incredible 7th. Congratulations on a well-fought performance and good luck in representing Surrey in the intercounty fixture this weekend!

South East School Championships

Three Tiffin teams were taken to Harrow on Thursday 6th March to compete in the South East School Championships.

Our Year 7 to Year 9 team performed brilliantly, placing 4th in the competition. They were captained by Struan F, our only Year 9 on the day. Nevertheless, the Year 8s rose to the challenge magnificently with Max J and Anas B placing in the top 10.

The ladies’ team, captained by Sophie P, saw a leading performance from Rowan B. Neve M also ran superbly on her school debut run, and Elena K clinched the team a bronze medal for the day – another high-tide mark in the five-year history of ladies’ sport at Tiffin.

The senior men’s team were extremely strong, with Atharv P, Cathal L, Josh A, and Haruki N clinching a silver medal against incredible opponents. Atharv placed 3rd last year in this competition but bested his score by winning the race by a clear 20 seconds.

A magnificent end to the season for the 30-person squad, with only the Danes Hills race for the Year 7 and Year 8s remaining.

Javelin

Throwing a javelin for the first time is tricky. However, Valentine T threw well over the debut standard distance of 10 meters with a fantastic 11.28 meters, winning him the inter-form competition. He hopes to continue his throwing success in the Discus next Tuesday.
