Football
Despite the weather causing havoc at Grists, meaning Tiffin have only played a single game at home, Mr White, the Head of Football, has done a sterling job of getting as many opportunities for students to play as possible.
The 1st XI opened their account with a local derby in an extremely convincing win over Kingston Grammar School 7 – 0, with the 2nd XI also winning. The following week again saw wins from both the 1st and 2nd XIs against St Benedicts, with Tiffin also putting out a 3rd XI. Senior games for the 3rd XI came thick and fast with fixtures against Cardinal Vaughan, Ewell Castle and King’s Wimbledon. The latter two mentioned fixtures included notable performances in the 3rd XI from Sixth Form girls Lara, Claudia, Amy, and Adannaya.
It is safe to say the 1st XI would be very much in the Champions League places after their run of 3 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw, ably led by Captain Jacob and built around a solid back four, with dominant performances from George and Louis. Keep it up gents.

Tiffin 1st XI
Tiffin’s junior football programme has also seen much action, with up to five teams in each year group representing the school including block fixtures against King’s Wimbledon, Ewell Castle, London Oratory and Epsom College. Noah in Year 8 is the leading light with five goals in three games. The future is bright!

U13 Football Team
Netball
With girls rugby the priority performance sport this term, there have been less fixtures than normal, but Miss Passco, Miss Huckstep, and Mrs Shoebridge have still got the netball girls some game time. Three games away to Woldingham School in a new fixture was a chilly but fun outing. The 1st VII gave Surbiton High a really close game in the last week, a competitive 18-27 scoreline, however the 2nd VII were mightily impressive running out 32-22 winners! Good performances by all involved in the buildup to the upcoming Borough tournament.
Girls Rugby
The girls rugby programme has been extremely busy since the turn of the new year, playing 5 fixtures (6 including the Dave Morris Cup) and it’s great to see the level of commitment to representing the school. Starting out the year was a very convincing 39-20 win against Joseph Williamson’s Maths School at Grists with 21 girls named to play. In the following week Tiffin hosted regular visitors Robert Clack for a competitive fixture, this time however being the wrong side of the 17-26 scoreline; another close one.
The girls rugby squad then took their talents to the East Midlands to go on tour, mixing in some activities like go-karting with two ambitious fixtures against prestigious rugby schools Oundle and Bishop’s Stortford. The squad of 25 deep played some quality rugby, but unfortunately lost another two close games (24-29 and 27-40 respectively). However, it was a great experience to play such quality opponents, where many learnings will be taken.
In the most recent fixture, 19 girls travelled for the return leg against the Maths School again, where another close game ensued, but the Rochester outfit exacted revenge on the earlier loss in the season, a 15-20 battle Tiffin unfortunately lost. With the level of performances so far this season, results are almost secondary to us when the level of opponents the girls play is so strong, especially when the games are so close! It shows the level of girls rugby here at Tiffin now when we get within 5 points of Oundle. A chance to experience that winning feeling awaits with upcoming matches against Esher College and Graveney, as the build-up to Rosslyn Park sevens is well underway, where the hope will be to get to the second day once again.
Other Sports
Max took part in the British Shooting Schools Rifle Championship National Final in Staffordshire last weekend, having achieved first place in the South East Regional competition in October..
Max entered the Senior category, competing against others up to 18 years old and won a silver medal in the individual 10m Sporter Rifle Competition.
This year, for the first time, British Shooting allowed competitors from different schools to form Youth Teams – Max’s team included a student from Tiffin Girls’ and Ashcroft Technology Academy, and they took home the gold medal. Great work, Max!
