Last week’s rugby action at Tiffin School was heavily impacted by the weather, which led to the unfortunate cancellation of nine scheduled matches across various age groups. Heavy rain and sodden pitches made it impossible for many games to go ahead but, despite these disruptions, there were some notable performances and encouraging signs for the future of rugby at Tiffin.

1st XV Rugby – A Tough Loss, But Promising Signs

The 1st XV rugby team faced a challenging fixture against a formidable opponent last week. In difficult conditions, it resulted in a loss for the boys, in a match that saw a valiant effort from the squad. Despite their best efforts, a few key mistakes proved costly, and they were unable to recover from a strong surge from St Benedict’s.

However, one of the bright spots in this loss was the performance of the Year 11 players and the 2nd team boys who stepped up to fill in and bolster the squad. These younger players impressed with their maturity and skill under pressure, showing that Tiffin’s rugby future is in good hands. While disappointed with the result, the team’s spirit and the invaluable experience gained by the younger players will prove crucial in the coming weeks.

The boys were delighted with the result, acknowledging how much the team had grown both individually and as a collective unit. Their technical development and increasing understanding of the game were on full display as they held their nerve to secure a well-deserved win. The Under 14 Bs have certainly set the standard for what is possible when a team commits to hard work and continuous improvement, and they will be looking to build on this momentum in the remainder of the season.
