On Wednesday the senior girls cross country team set off to Hampton School for a paarlauf relay (relay style where each person runs multiple times in a set time). They had Rowan in the first leg of the 1600m course, Sophie in second and Elena bringing it home. After what was a somewhat intimidating start with all age groups and genders starting at the same time (minutes after being asked if they were junior girls) they got into their stride running approximately 3.5 laps of the course in 24 minutes. To put into context there were 14 Ladies teams out of 65 teams entered in total over all the categories involved. All were involved in a full out cavalry charge start, impressive to say the least.  Along with Rowan had the brutal job of finishing the race with the longest leg of the relay, as handovers aren’t allowed in the last minute, and she delivered a strong performance. In the end they were narrowly defeated by Kings College School’s team but were delighted with their silvers nonetheless and were rewarded with sausage rolls.
