It’s been a busy November for Pancho (Y12) who has taken part in many running races throughout the month.
16th November: London Youth Games
Pancho took to the start line at the London Youth Games, competing against approximately 160 talented runners. With determination and skill, he finished in an impressive 19th place, showcasing his potential and setting the tone for a remarkable month.
23rd November: Liverpool Cross Challenge
Just a week later, Pancho qualified for the prestigious Liverpool Cross Challenge held in Sefton Park, a key European qualifier event. Competing against a competitive field, including U20 and U17 athletes, he secured a commendable 41st place out of 350 runners. This performance highlighted his ability to rise to the occasion on larger stages.
30th November: Surrey XC League
The last race of the month saw Pancho excel at the 2nd match of the Surrey XC League, where he finished a fantastic 3rd out of 170 runners. His time was a mere 0.5 seconds behind the second-place finisher, an English indoor 800m athlete, and only 20 seconds behind Team GB’s Alex Lennon. This remarkable run underlines Pancho’s competitive spirit and growing prowess in cross country.
Upcoming Event: Regional Intercounties Match
Pancho’s excellent performances throughout November have led to his selection to represent Team Surrey at the Regional Intercounties Match on 7th December in Lloyd Park. This opportunity is a testament to his hard work and dedication, and we can’t wait to see how he performs!
