It’s been a busy two weekends with Rugby fixtures against KCS and St George’s Weybridge, including two cup fixtures for the Year 9 students and the 1st XV.  On the Netball court, we took on Tiffin Girls in a spectacular match that really highlighted the growth of the team.

1st XV vs KCS
This week, the 1st XV faced a formidable KCS team in what proved to be a tough challenge. Despite the loss, the boys showed great resilience and determination, making a strong contest of the match. The team kept their heads up and played with intensity, executing well-structured phases of play and demonstrating solid defensive organization. Though KCS eventually came out on top, the performance showcased the potential of the team. The boys will look to build on these positives as they prepare for upcoming fixtures, with confidence growing despite the result.

1st XV – Round 5 Cup Match vs Cardinal Vaughan (Wednesday)
The 1st XV also faced Cardinal Vaughan in their Round 5 Cup match last Wednesday, but unfortunately, the team fell short. The match was a closely contested affair, with both sides playing hard-fought rugby. However, Cardinal Vaughan’s tactical play sealed their victory despite a second half comeback from the tiffin boys. The 1st XV showed moments of quality play, but lapses in concentration and missed opportunities in key moments were costly. The team will look to learn from this setback and refocus for the remainder of their season, knowing that every match offers valuable lessons.

Under 16As vs KCS
In contrast, the Under 16s had a thrilling victory at home. The team delivered an exceptional performance, combining fast, dynamic play with disciplined defense to secure a well-deserved win. Key tries were scored following well-executed set-pieces and quick thinking from the backline. The forwards dominated the breakdowns, providing ample possession and creating scoring opportunities. It was a fantastic display of team spirit and rugby skills, and the boys will undoubtedly be proud of their collective effort as they continue to develop.

Under 14s vs Whitgift
The Under 14s were unfortunately eliminated from their cup run following a tough encounter against Whitgift. Despite their best efforts, the boys were up against a physically strong and well-organized Whitgift team. Although the scoreline did not reflect the intensity of their play, the Under 14s fought hard and showed character throughout the match. The team can hold their heads high, as they have gained invaluable experience from the competition and will be motivated to bounce back stronger next season.

Moving onto the St George’s Weybridge fixtures we start with the Friday year 7 fixtures were we had over 70 year 7s representing the school which was amazing to see. Saturday followed with 9 fixtures.

1st XV vs. St George’s Weybridge
The 1st XV faced a challenging encounter against St George’s Weybridge on weekend, with the game proving to be a true test of resilience. The team put in a determined performance, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to clinch the win, ultimately falling short in a hard-fought contest. The match was particularly memorable for Min Jun, who made his debut for the 1st XV. The young player showed great promise, but the team was unable to overcome the powerful and disciplined St George’s side. The final score saw Tiffin on the losing end, but the team will take valuable lessons from this encounter as they continue to build throughout the season.

Under 16A vs St George’s Weybridge
The Under 16A team continued their impressive form with another resounding victory. Their performance was dominant, showcasing excellent teamwork and skill as they controlled the game from start to finish. The team’s defensive efforts was matched by a potent attacking threat, which saw them take the lead. The win extends their unbeaten streak, and they will be looking to carry this momentum forward into their upcoming fixtures. The players are growing in confidence, with the team’s overall cohesion being a key factor in their continued success.

Under 15B vs St George’s Weybridge

The Under 15B match was a closely contested affair, with both teams giving everything to come away with the victory. It was a back-and-forth battle, with both sides showing impressive attacking flair and defensive resilience. The game ended in a 17-17 draw, with neither team able to find the decisive score in the final stages. The boys showed grit and determination to try and push for the win, and will be proud of their performance in what was a truly tight and competitive match. This result leaves them with plenty of positives to build on for the rest of the season.

Thrilling Match Between Tiffin and Tiffin Girls School

Tiffin School took on Tiffin Girls this week and what a heated match that turned out to be. Both teams fought for their 20-20 A squad draw and 17-12 B squad win. We have never given Tiffin Girls such a good fixture and the results highlight the growth and, I dare say, aggressiveness of the two teams. They were quick, accurate and the desire to win shone in their matches.  Both teams were evenly matched, showcasing incredible skill and determination throughout. The standout performances came from the defensive duo, Aoibhinn and Sophie, who brilliantly held off Tiffin Girls’ relentless attacks, keeping them at bay and allowing Tiffin to control the flow of the game.

What makes this fixture even more impressive is the context: Tiffin Girls had five years of experience, while Tiffin only had one. Yet, the team rose to the occasion and put on a fantastic performance, proving that skill, teamwork, and determination can overcome the odds. Tiffin 17- Tiffin Girls – 12

A final well done to our players of the match, Jess F and Bianca R-A; Bianca for her bullet-speed passes and impressive defensive style and Jess for her ever-impressive ability to shoot under the pressure of a very dynamic GD.

Coaches chose Mae B (for not being an ick when faced with a contact injury on court) and Adie T and Lane Afor being a shooting dream team.
