After a well deserved half term break, its time to catch up on the results of the Glyn fixtures for our rugby teams along with the u15s tour to Portugal and some great results for our netball teams.

Kicking off with our Friday Night Lights fixture against Glyn, where our 1st XV and 2nd XV got the double win with two great performances. The earlier kick off from the 2s was a great watch for the spectators and, to Mr Latham’s delight, the boys showed how dangerous they can be in attack with the use of their set plays and consistency coming from great set piece where Louis was exceptional throwing in the lineout to give with boys a great platform to work off. This was helped with the backing up of a solid defensive line from the whole team, staying in the fight for the full 80 minutes. The 1st team followed this with a great show of their defensive ability to keep Glyn to only a single try which was great to see after a big emphasis on defence in training that week. The boys showed how much they wanted the win by staying in the fight for the full 80 minutes and continuously front up in tackles. Chibuikem showed his great strength and speed with two great line break tires to get the boy a well deserved 14-7 win.

Our U14As took the trip down to Glyn on the Saturday and found themselves in a great battle were both sides were scoreless at the half. With some great leadership from James and George, the half time talk got the boys in the right mindset and they went out and scored a quick try in the second half. Soon finding themselves back on their 5 meter line, the boys put up a great defence, with special mentions to James and Jude, they managed to get the turnover and put the pressure back on Glyn. Daniel came off the bench to make his first appearance for the A team and gave the boys the boost they needed by scoring one of the best tries so far this season only to find out he’d stepped into touch. However, this boost of energy gave the boys the boost they needed to get over the line with a great line break to put Silas under the posts to seal off the win.

The U13As went away to Glyn as well and faced a tough side. The boys fought hard for the whole game and managed to get the win giving them a great boost in confidence. They showed how far they have come along this season with their handling skills and organisation which has been great to see.

The U12Bs had a great bounce back performance against Glyn and got a huge 50-0 win which was amazing to see how far their defensive skills have come along.

Our Year 11s took on Glyn and put on a dominant performance with a big 43-14 win. With great organisation from Mikel at fly-half, they had a great attacking structure and were consistently on top. The whole team stepped up in defence when they were challenged and continued to show their dominance as they kept Glyn to only two tries. The U16s look to continue their great form for the remainder of the season with agreed record of 5 wins and 2 very close losses.

Over Half Term the Year 10 rugby team went on tour to Portugal. While enjoying the sun and sightseeing, they managed to fit in some fixtures. The boys had two very close games against St Julians Lisbon school and Evora; both games went down to the wire with both games being won by one score. The boys did very well to adapt to the different surroundings and come away with two wins on a very enjoyable tour.

The Year 12 netballers brought in two wins this week against Nonsuch School. Whilst chasing the sun, they managed to shine whilst working in brand new teams and in positions they were unfamiliar with. Thank you to everyone who reluctantly played GS (you smashed it). Congratulations to Sorcha and Aoibhinn for being awarded player of the match. Coaches give Lucy and Adannaya their player of the match for outstanding contributions to the team.
