For their summer season 2024, Opera Holland Park invited members of Tiffin Boys’ Choir and Tiffin Children’s Chorus to perform with them in a revival of ‘Edgar’, a little known work by, perhaps, the world’s favourite composer of opera: Giacomo Puccini. Like his most famous works, which include La Boheme, Madama Butterfly and Tosca, the story of Edgar, full of hope, passion and tragedy, is told through Puccini’s expressive Romantic melodies and tension-filled harmonies. The roles played by the pupils over three nights under the canopy of Opera Holland Park’s impressive outdoor stage included mourning choristers at the title character’s funeral: a memorable experience for all those involved.
