Last week, Head of Science, Mrs Molyneux, invited Dr P. Hoare of Newcastle University to give a series of symposiums on NMR Chemistry. As one of the AQA examiners, Dr Hoare gave an entertaining and highly informative series of three talks on IR and NMR spectroscopy. During these, he gave students not only the practical hands-on experience of interpreting real in-school generated spectrographs, but students also made use of £30,000 worth of portable equipment. He provided key examples of how to use specific language in exams along with excellent support material which was readily absorbed by our keen Chemists.
