On Tuesday 13th October, the Main Hall came alive with energy and excitement as students, staff and supporters gathered for the much-anticipated House Dance Finals 2026. The atmosphere was electric, with enthusiastic cheering, vibrant performances and plenty of House pride. The event was a fantastic celebration of not only dance talent but also creativity, teamwork, dedication and community spirit.

Our judging panel, Mr Dean, Mr Moody and Mrs Cadogan, had the challenging task of evaluating the exceptionally high standard of performances across all three categories.

The competition featured three exciting categories: Set Piece, performed to Dai Dai by Shakira; Free Piece, giving students the freedom to explore their own musical and choreographic ideas; and Solo/Duo, showcasing individual talent, technical ability, musicality and artistic expression. From jazz and hip-hop to Bollywood fusion, the audience enjoyed an impressive variety of dance styles and performances.

The competition culminated in an exciting finish, with CG House securing the overall House Dance title with an impressive 41 points. Their achievement reflected the creativity, teamwork and dedication of everyone involved in their performances.

A huge congratulations to all the dancers, choreographers, House Captains and Heads of House who contributed to this year’s competition. Reaching the finals was a fantastic achievement, and everyone involved should be proud of the hard work, creativity and commitment demonstrated throughout the process.

House Dance provides a valuable opportunity for students to develop their performance skills, express their creativity and work collaboratively towards a shared goal. The dedication shown during rehearsals, the confidence displayed on stage and the encouragement shared between Houses all contributed to the success of the event.

Above all, the Finals demonstrated the power of dance to bring our school community together, celebrating individual talent while strengthening teamwork, a sense of belonging and pride in our Houses.
