We are thrilled to announce that T. Bertoli in Y8 was officially commended in the prestigious University of Oxford Classical Meme Competition 2026.

Run by the Faculty of Classics at Oxford, this annual national competition challenges students across the UK to bridge the gap between antiquity and the modern digital world. Participants were asked to create a meme based on any aspect of the ancient world, requiring a unique blend of sharp wit, modern pop-culture awareness, and deep historical knowledge.

Competing against hundreds of clever entries from across the country, T. Bertoli caught the judges’ attention in the highly competitive 11 to 13 age category. His entry focused on the transition from Emperor Tiberius to Emperor Caligula, making a witty joke about Caligula’s infamous threat to appoint his beloved horse, Incitatus, as a Roman consul.

Being recognised by one of the world’s leading universities for academic outreach is an incredible achievement. Please join us in congratulating T. Bertoli on his creativity, humour, and impressive classical scholarship. Well done!
