Summer Term 7
Another busy week of summer sport saw most midweek fixtures fall victim to the extreme heat, but Saturday’s full block of cricket fixtures against King’s College School Wimbledon still provided plenty of memorable performances.
The 1st XI produced one of the standout results of the season with a superb victory over KCS at home, their first against the visitors in five years. After electing to bowl, Tiffin delivered an outstanding display in the field, dismissing KCS for 128. Matthias led the attack with exceptional figures of 5-24, well supported by Ayush’s 3-27. The chase proved far from straightforward as Tiffin slipped to 79-8, but a remarkable unbroken partnership between Ayush (41*) and Zaky (12*) guided the side to a famous victory against some excellent bowling.
Tuesday also saw one of the highlights of the cricket calendar as Tiffin hosted the MCC at Grist’s. With temperatures soaring, the traditional timed fixture was reduced to a 35-over match. The MCC posted 195-8, with captain Kajus leading from the front with impressive figures of 3-27. Tiffin’s reply began positively, reaching 60-1 before wickets began to fall. Zayan anchored the innings with an excellent 56, while Zaky’s aggressive 46 kept hopes alive late into the chase. Despite finishing 20 runs short, the boys gained invaluable experience, particularly from former Surrey professional and Old Tiffinian Arun Harinath, who shared his expertise with the squad after the match.

The 2nd and 3rd XIs both faced strong opposition away at KCS. Although results did not go their way, there were encouraging performances from Aditya K (31) and Manav, whose economical spell of 0-18 from five overs stood out for the 2nd XI, while Pranav I impressed with a well-made 43 for the 3rd XI.
The U15 and U14A sides were also up against tough KCS teams. Despite coming up short, there were excellent individual contributions throughout. Cooper (34) and Rahul S (40) batted confidently for the U15s, while Rohan and Hamza delivered disciplined spells with the ball. For the U14As, Avyan A was particularly impressive with an excellent bowling performance.
The U14Bs, however, enjoyed a superb seven-wicket victory. Brandon A starred with the ball, taking 3-13 to help restrict KCS to 139-4. In reply, Rehan W anchored the chase brilliantly with an unbeaten 56, supported by Simon V’s composed 39*, as the side secured an excellent win.
The U13As rounded off the weekend with a fantastic four-wicket victory away at KCS. A disciplined bowling display restricted the hosts to 138-8, with Adhrit (2-8) and Reyansh W (2-2) leading the attack. In reply, a crucial partnership between Matthew R (27) and Akhil Y (36) laid the foundations for a composed chase, with Tiffin reaching the target with an over to spare to cap an excellent team performance.
As another successful sporting year continues, it has been fantastic to see so many pupils representing the school with commitment, resilience and enthusiasm across all age groups.
