Culture Week 2026
This week, our school came alive with colour, creativity, and connection as students and staff celebrated Culture Week — a vibrant programme of activities recognising and honouring the many cultures that make up our community.
We began the week with Cultural Clothing Day, it was impossible not to be struck by the remarkable array of colour and tradition on display. Countries and backgrounds represented included Morocco, Egypt, Somalia, Iraq, Turkey, Romania, Ukraine, regions across the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, Afghanistan, Japan, Australia — and, of course, Britain. The variety reflected the true breadth of our school community, with each outfit telling its own story.

Some costumes were particularly striking. One student shared the story behind her outfit, representing an Afghan travelling community, offering a meaningful insight into a lesser-known cultural tradition. Moments like these captured the spirit of the week: learning not just through observation, but through conversation and shared understanding.
Lunchtimes became lively hubs of cultural exchange, with a wide range of activities bringing students together. Interactive language workshops in Spanish, Polish, Tamil, and Italian – led by students – offered engaging introductions to cultures through beginner phrases, games, and hands-on experiences, creating a welcoming space for curiosity and collaboration. The canteen also embraced the celebrations, serving themed meals from around the world, helping to make each lunchtime a vibrant and memorable experience.

The much-anticipated Culture Fair was another highlight. Students brought in a range of homemade dishes from different cultures, giving everyone the opportunity to experience delicious flavours while celebrating the traditions behind them.

Throughout the week, daily music workshops gave students across different year groups the opportunity to immerse themselves in a rich variety of musical traditions from around the world. Each session invited students to learn about the cultural background of the music, explore its unique rhythms and styles, and, most importantly, take part in playing instruments themselves. From experiencing the vibrant energy of steel pans to discovering the intricate sounds of Indonesian gamelan and the lively rhythms of Brazilian samba, students engaged in hands-on learning that brought each musical style to life.

The week concluded with an exciting staff vs students football match, bringing the whole school community together for a memorable finale. The match was full of energy, enthusiasm, and friendly competition, with both teams giving their all in front of a supportive and lively crowd. It was a fantastic opportunity for students and staff to connect outside the classroom, rounding off Culture Week on a high and celebrating our strong sense of school spirit.

Throughout the week, Tiffin Broadcast Network (TBN) captured these special moments through photos and videos, some of which you can enjoy here. Their coverage highlighted the strength and value of our community while preserving memories of students and staff coming together to learn from and share with one another.
Culture Week has been a powerful reflection of our shared value of belonging – a reminder that everyone has a place here, regardless of background or belief. Through celebration, learning, and openness, the week showcased not only our differences but also the unity and strength found within them.
