To launch Culture Week, the Culture Week team hosted a creative essay writing competition, showcasing the imagination and talent of our students. We are delighted to share the winning entry, The Kraken, written by Jaiden P Y7, below. Congratulations Jaiden!

The Kraken

All alone at the bottom of the sea,

A kraken sat there with one plea:

All he wanted was a friend,

For he was the last kraken there will be.

He shed his scales of shiny gold,

To leave behind the dark and cold.

He swam toward the silver light,

And found a pod of whales in flight.

They did not fear his many arms,

But welcomed him with rhythmic charms.

No longer strange, no longer blue,

The world was old, but he was new.
