Congratulations to the Tiffin athletes who gained Kingston Borough vests at the County Championships.
Debutants Arthur E and Maxim C both produced strong performances in the Year 7 race at the famous Reigate Priory venue last weekend, helping Kingston secure a top-ten finish in the inter-borough competition.
Spearheaded by Max J, Adrian C, and the emerging Anas B, the Year 9 junior team went on to win their section. For a small borough with only a handful of schools, this was a superb achievement. In addition to earning borough vests, Max finished in the top ten to secure selection for the Surrey inter-counties team, while Anas automatically qualified for both the inter-counties event and the National Schools Championships. Anas’s outstanding performance placed him fourth, well clear of his teammates, all of whom will compete at the English Schools Championships on Saturday 14th March at Sefton Park, Liverpool.
In the intermediate section, Mark S continued his excellent progress, while Thomas W looks well placed to join Max and Anas at the inter-counties match. He will also be a strong contender to extend his remarkable record at the National Championships should the selectors award him a discretionary place. James C, Josh A, and Cathal L combined to help Kingston finish a strong fourth in the team competition, and another outstanding individual fourth place from Pancho Pmeans Kingston could have an unprecedented three athletes selected for the Surrey English Schools team. A fourth athlete in the declared national squad is also a distinct possibility, particularly if Max produces another strong performance at the inter-counties championships.
We look forward to receiving the confirmed Ladies result in due course.
