Thomas W
Thomas W has been busy with the indoor athletics season posting great times and position in four races

The first was on 13th December 2025 at the South of England indoor 1500m gold with a time of 4.14.11. This was a new Personal Best (PB) by 14 seconds despite a very slow start to the race. Thomas sat in second place until the 800m mark before kicking and winning by a comfortable margin.

The second race was a new 800m PB of 1.58.42 in the London Indoor series 800m held over 4 laps of the indoor Lee valley 200m track.

The third race was the hotly contested heats of the South of England Indoor U17 Championship again at the Lee Vally centre. With only one athlete to go through by right, and one fastest non direct qualifier from 5 heats, it was a tough route to the final.

The early heat was a relatively pedestrian (for Thomas)  2.00.26, which was sufficient to be in the box seat for the final. His was the only heat to get two runners through as it was the fastest of the 5 by a long way. This meant he had to expend valuable resources in bettering the fastest non-automatic qualifier of the day. Not only this, his heat was the penultimate of the day and so he had significantly less recovery time than 3 of his finalists rivals.

The final was very successful in that the previous weeks’ time was bettered to a finely judged 800m effort and new P.B. of 1.58.14. This and the second South of England Indoor U17 Championship title and gold medal in a month was quite remarkable.

Congratulations to Thomas who is now looking forward to full fitness in the Summer.
