Mandarin
On Thursday 11th December, some students from our Mandarin GCSE classes enjoyed an exciting hands-on cultural activity with Ms Chen as they learned how to make (and taste) their own bubble tea. The session introduced students not only to the popular Taiwanese drink, but also to the vocabulary, ingredients, and cultural background behind it. Many students experimented with different flavours and toppings, making the activity both educational and fun.

This event reflects the broader approach of the Mandarin Course, which goes far beyond language learning. Students are regularly offered opportunities to experience Chinese culture through a range of activities, competitions, and educational trips. These experiences help deepen their understanding of the language while also building cultural awareness.

Following their memorable trip to China in October, students are now eagerly looking forward to the next major event: the Mandarin Study Day Trip to the BFI on February 12th next year. This upcoming trip promises further cultural enrichment and an engaging extension of their Mandarin learning journey.

Overall, the bubble tea workshop was a great success, and another example of how the Mandarin programme continues to inspire curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm among its learners.
