Following last week’s announcement, Pancho performed brilliantly when representing Bulgaria at the Balkan Championships last weekend. He came in 13th overall, and was 1st from the Bulgarian team to cross line – well done Pancho! Below, Pancho tells us more about his experience.
“The Balkan Cross-country Championships were a complete success and a fantastic international debut, where I was the 1st Bulgarian to cross the finish and I came 13th overall and 6th out of the ‘first-year’ Under 20 Athletes.
The whole experience was extraordinary, meeting so many new people and making connections with people from all over Eastern Europe and Israel!
In statistical terms, I ran a time of 19:43 for the 6k course, which had an elevation gain of 166m! I had the performance of a lifetime which led to me beating athletes that I never thought I could have even started on the same start line of! These endeavours have now led me to qualifying for the European Cross-Country Championships on the 13th of December in Lagoa, Portugal!”
