Last week was a milestone in school sport as every year group took to the field, with proud first runouts for our new Year 7s and Year 12s. It was a week that reflected the strength of our sporting culture: full of competition, resilience, and plenty of success.

The 1st XV edged Halliford in a thrilling encounter, with Faran, Min-Jun and Ethan O standing out in a hard-fought win. On Wednesday they faced St George’s Weybridge in the 2nd round of the National Vase, where they were narrowly beaten by just two points. Despite the result, Ethan F and Ruben delivered standout performances.

The 2nd XV came up short against Claremont Fan Court School on Saturday, though Dmitriy’s efforts earned him recognition as a standout player.

The girls have come in strong this year; strong in numbers, strong in will and strong in sporting aptitude.

Last week saw our netball first team take Richmond Park Academy and secure an impressive 24-6 win.

This week all three netball squads competed against Sir William Perkins and fought hard to showcase the resilience of our teams, even in the face of hard competition. Well done to our B squad for their victory!

With the idea of victory on the mind, I have no words to express how proud we are of our girls’ football team who won 10-0 against Sir William Perkins. In less than a week we went from not having a team, to having 15 players who dominated on the pitch. Well done team!!!

Back to rugby, the 16As secured a fantastic 17–5 victory against Halliford, with Taym, Josh and Seni impressing throughout. Both the 15A and 15B teams extended their winning runs with victories over Halliford last Thursday. Silas shone in the As, while Athuren was the standout for the Bs. The 14Bs produced an excellent display at Grists, winning 36–19. Top performers were Pavel, Rishit and Armaan. The 13A and 13B teams both battled to hard-fought draws. Luka impressed for the As, while Joseph was the standout for the Bs.

A proud moment for our Year 7s, who represented the school in rugby for the first time last Friday. They showed great spirit and enthusiasm, laying firm foundations for the season ahead. The 12As fought to a draw against Halliford, with excellent performances from Jonathan, Arthur E and Alexander. The 12Bs recorded their first-ever win, 25–20, thanks to a standout performance from Dominic. For the 12Cs, many of whom were playing their first rugby match, Mr Baker highlighted Arthur T, Joe and Nathan for their determination against a strong Halliford side.

It has been an extraordinary week for school sports. From the youngest Year 7s to the newly joined Year 12s, and from rugby to netball to football, our pupils have shown skill, courage, and determination. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the weeks ahead.
