Congratulations to Thomas who, over the Summer, made history by not only setting but then breaking the school record for the 400m hurdles. His latest performance of 59.7 seconds at Abingdon is a remarkable achievement — dipping under the one-minute barrier is a major milestone for any school athlete, especially when ten hurdles are involved.
To put this in perspective, Thomas’s hurdles time stands impressively alongside his flat 400m personal best of 53.36 seconds. For comparison, running under 53 seconds without hurdles is often considered the benchmark of a national-standard athlete.
Thomas is also chasing another exciting goal: breaking the two-minute barrier for the 800m. He is joined in this challenge by fellow athlete Pancho, as both continue to push the limits of performance within the school’s strong athletics tradition.
