Anas B ran an excellent race, placing 3rd in his heat in the 3000m as a first-year U15, running a speedy time of 10 minutes 42.26 seconds; a fantastic occasion for a personal best!
Pancho P also ran the 3000m in the U20 Final as a first-year U20, placing 3rd despite a stacked array of athletes. It was a very tactical race, starting with the first 400m lap split at 1 minute 22 seconds, to then somehow rack up the negative splits to finish with 9 minutes 2.18 seconds. There’s most certainly more to come in this season, but it’s a great 3000m opener with an official personal best by 24 seconds!
After the final, Pancho received the thrilling news that he had achieved the Bulgarian standard for the Balkan Athletics Championships, despite not particularly aiming for it. Pancho will also be aiming to achieve the Balkan and U20 European standard for the 3000m Steeplechase, so he may not only be representing Bulgaria in one event!
Mr Shaw also had a field day, picking up 1 silver medal and 4 bronze medals in the M60 throwing events: Shot, Discus, Hammer, Javelin, and Weight! An incredible performance from the veteran athlete.
