It was another busy weekend of rugby at Tiffin with Year 7 putting out 10 sides on a Friday afternoon fixture, so there is lots to catch up on in this week’s report!

Rugby Round-up

1st XV welcomed London oratory to Grists on Saturday and put on a great show of rugby for those in attendance with the game going back and forth right until the end. Some outstanding performances from Chibuikem along with Stuart, Yaseen and George coming on for his debut. The boys put up a great fight till the end but narrowly missed out on the win, pulling the game back from 17-0 down at half time to 22-15 at the final whistle.

16As had a great bounce back win beating London Oratory really showing their true potential as a team with a quality second half performance edging them the win. With a few injuries, the team had to adapt with Tristan filling in well at outside centre, George and Chris carrying well and Gabriel really making his mark in his new position of inside centre. We hope they can build on this and keep the momentum heading into their next game against Glyn on Wednesday.

16Bs showed the true quality in depth the u16s year group have with a great win against London Oratory. After a tough game against Wimbledon this win really shows how the boys can come together and rebuild in the week and get the win they deserve. There is true depth in this year group with huge numbers of boys wanting to represent the school each week. Well done the U16s.

15As, to no surprise, continue their winning streak with a big 51 – 22 win showing real class in their performance. They now look to continue their cup run against an unbeaten Emanuel side which is set to be a thriller of a game.

15Bs couldn’t get the win despite showing continued improvement at training, against a tough London Oratory side. The boys will take a well deserved rest over half term and look to return with big game against KCS Wimbledon.

U14Bs continue to show their great development as a team week by week despite a loss to London Oratory. They are inches away from their first win and I am in no doubt it will be soon.

U13As put on a great performance against London oratory with a 30 – 15 win displaying their ability to be an attacking threat when with the ball.

U12s managed to put out six sides on a Friday afternoon fixture against London Oratory with a further side at a touch tournament hosted at Grists by Mr Latham. A total of ten different schools were at Grists on Friday! Participation won the day. It was amazing to see that many boys getting involved, with all teams putting on a great show of rugby and continuing their development as rugby players at Tiffin. They look to be having a positive start to their time playing schoolboy rugby.

Netball

This week saw all three teams competing against St Benedict’s and what a match that turned out to be! In spite of the losses, this game was Miss Passco’s favourite so far. It was truly wonderful to see the squads moving so dynamically and putting up a strong fight to the bitter end. Our powerful in pink and rockin’ reds worked hard for the post-match tea, which makes the travel to St Bens worth the while. Special shout out to Francesca Burgio who managed to play an excellent game after also attending a French trip to Somerset House – we appreciate your dedication!
