Congratulations to our 34 impressive Gold Duke of Edinburgh candidates who completed their 3 day/2 night training and practice expedition in the Coniston area of the Lake District 4th-6th October! Grouped into teams of 6 or 7, most traveled up the day before and stayed overnight at the Holly How Youth Hostel; while the rest managed to get up to the start point to meet their leaders the day of the expedition, overcoming some train cancellations along the way. From all accounts everyone had a brilliant time together, enjoying the independence and challenge of hiking and camping surrounded by the stunning scenery of the iconic Lake District, and have come back fit, happy and ready for more!
