It’s been a busy start to the year for Tiffin’s runners, with many events taking place and wonderful results achieved.

Firstly, congratulations to Pancho who achieved brilliant success in the Saucony English Cross-Country National Championships.  These took place in Shropshire and was, as some might argue, the hottest national cross-country relay competition ever.  Pancho placed 39th and was the second fastest in his team, leading team England to 3rd place.  Well done Pancho!

Part two of the Surrey Championships took place last week where Josh and Tife were both in action.  Josh should be on the top step of the podium as the tallest competitor in the U20 400m relay team, winning for his club in the county relay competition.  Tife took part in the multi-event section of the championships, attempting to qualify for international duty.  After finishing 8th in the Surrey Pentathlon in the Summer term, and 15th in the National Octathlon at Eton in the holidays, he was looking to build upon these efforts.  As of publishing, we are still awaiting the official final results from the Surrey Championships.

On the 17th September, after a longer than expected trip around the conveyer belt of the M25, the U13 Running Team spilled out of the bus and made straight for the strategic higher ground position at the start of a race taking place at Skinners’ School. Having gained the upper hand, the team flew off the start line, all giving their best and ultimately achieving a team silver medal.  A special mention to Freddie to who kept his position and style going well throughout the race for an impressive 4th place finish against national standard opposition.  Max stalked the early race leader and ran past hi to record a new course record and a splendid first victory at our first time at the event.  The B team had a fabulous day, finishing 3rd in their section.

The U15 section saw another wonderful course record by Thomas and Hughie and Sturan provided valiant support in the middle of the field.  A special mention to Mark and Sami who ran remarkable races, the latter even more so as he appeared as a super-sub when the team was short.  Overall, Tiffin came 5th which is a great result for this emerging team.

And finally, well done to Atharv who recorded a huge personal best by placing 3rd out of 1479 runners at the Bushy Park time trial.
