On a rainy Friday morning last week, Year 7 welcomed residents of Kingston care homes and members of the local WI branch for a coffee morning in the Main Hall. Year 7 students fundraised throughout the Spring Term to host the event, raising a grand total of £2,516!
Helpers from across the six Year 7 forms chatted away to our guests whilst serving tea, coffee and cakes galore! Sam, one of our helpers, said “we talked about all kinds of topics- past jobs, politics, Rubik’s cubes, and current jobs (we found out that one lady was a bell ringer at a local church). It was a brilliant experience, and I would definitely do it again.” Once the morning had got into full swing, the choir led by Mr Day performed for us- an audience favourite was ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’.
A huge thank you to Year 7 for your fundraising efforts and for the time spent planning and running this event to reach out to the local Kingston community. The remaining funds of over £2,300 has been donated to AgeUK on their behalf.
