On Tuesday the 11th of June, an astounding 174 students across Years 7 and 8 took part in the follow-on rounds to the Maths Challenge which the students had sat a few weeks ago. 142 (64 Year 7s and 78 Year 8s) took part in the Junior Kangaroo, whilst 32 students (15 Year 7s and 17 Year 8s) took part in the extremely challenging Junior Olympiad, a two hour challenge. Having so many of our students (this is almost half of our Year 7s and 8s) even qualify for these events is extraordinary, and a testament to the remarkable Mathematical ability of all of our students. That they so readily took part in these extra events in the middle of their lower school exam week says everything about their character and attitude (those taking part in the Olympiad even had to wake up earlier than usual to take part!). The Maths department would like to emphasise how impressed we are with every one of them, and how grateful we are for their efforts. We hope they enjoyed the experience and are excited to find out the results!
