2010 Curriculum

Departments undertake regular review of methods and practice.   Consideration is made regarding the effectiveness of teaching, learning and assessment methods and the use of resources.   Departments respond to Government legislation, changes to syllabuses and exam result analysis by modifying their Schemes of Work.

The use of a wide range of teaching methods is encouraged so students have experience of a variety of learning styles. Schemes of Work contain outlines of methods and processes appropriate to the topic and level concerned.   Discussion, in-service training and mutual lesson observation enable staff to develop ideas and approaches to all aspects of teaching and learning.   The aim at all times is to ensure that students adopt a positive and productive attitude towards their own learning.   The use of ICT is an integral part of all subjects schemes of work.   In that way students gain ICT skills and experience beyond that required by the National Curriculum, as a natural part of their subject work.
