Year 7
Year 7 Handbook pdf
Your first year at secondary school is all about new experiences. At Tiffin we hope to make these experiences challenging, thought-provoking, enriching and above all fun! As a Year 7 pupil at Tiffin you will discover and develop a whole wealth of talents you didn’t even know you had – be they on the rugby pitch, in a science laboratory, on the stage or just in an ordinary classroom. Within two days of arriving you will be balancing on high ropes, entrusting your safety to a classmate you’ve only just met! A few weeks later you will be confidently performing to a hall packed full with audience. By the end of the year you will have made friends with lots of new people, represented the school or your House in at least one event and have a valuable set of learning skills that will set you up for life! It is an amazing place to be and I very much look forward to welcoming you. If you don’t believe me, just have a look at some of these photos and read what the boys themselves have to say.

It’s been a great year coming to Tiffin I have made new friends and had many new experiences. I know what it feels like (your first day at school) especially a school like this but the hardest part of the year for me was before school even started. My first year at Tiffin has been the best year of my LIFE.

I have found my year at Tiffin an extremely enjoyable experience. I have enjoyed the majority of what it has had to offer. The hundreds of extracurricular activities offer plenty of choice, from Photoshop to badminton to science, there’s always something on at lunchtime, before and after school. If you like anything, you can do more of it via a club. This is probably my favourite aspect of life here.

Lessons at Tiffin are generally fun…In all the sciences you have experiments to complete and don’t think just because you’re in Year 7 that you won’t be doing any dissections in biology, mixing chemicals in chemistry or even talking about deep philosophical questions in physics! English is also fun. English was my worst subject when I started – now it’s one of my favourites.

Best of luck for this year. It will fly by. Seriously. It will.

When you start Year 7, you might just be a bit scared, worried or out of your comfort zone. Don’t worry about it! You’ll soon make a few good friends, and your form teacher or any other teacher will help you to make sure you settle in.
