The  Dempsey Centre
The Dempsey Centre
The Dempsey Centre was opened in September 2004. It comprises a 180 seat lecture theatre known as the Judge Lecture Theatre; Careers department and computer suite, and the Learning Resources Centre encompassing the LRC computer suite.

The Judge Lecture Theatre is used for timetabled lectures to the sixth form  along  with  assembly  and  lessons for the lower school.

The LRC is open at 8:00am every school day except Thursday when it is open at 9:20am and closes at 4:30pm  every  day.   Between  3:30 to 4:30pm is homework club with free access to all the facilities in the LRC area.

In the LRC we have resources covering all curriculum areas, including books, periodical, DVD, Video and CD; specifically selected educational website subscriptions as well as the Daily Newspapers from the UK and weekly newspapers and magazines in French, Spanish and German.   There is also multimedia equipment available to loan for school projects, along with dedicated video editing facilities within the LRC.

All resources are catalogued in the Dewey Decimal System of Classification as in all local libraries. There are different areas for specific resources, i.e. reference, CD & DVD, catalogued using the same system within their own area. There is a dedicated computer for searching where books are with a map system which will indicate  a resource location.

There are printing and scanning facilities in the LRC for students to print in colour (there is a small charge) and black and white, The students are allowed to print up to10 pages of A4 free in the lower school and 20 pages in the 6th form per week.

There  are lively Book Groups for all students in the lower school run in partnership with Kingston Library Service.
